Screen Print (Poster) Introduction

Screen Print (Poster) Introduction

Today we were introduced to our new studio brief. Im quite excited to get started with this brief due to an ability to use screen printing which will be a first for me.

The brief requires us to design a 2 colour screen print poster for a given Bruce Willis movie, the prints will be part of an exhbition held by the first and second years and we will upload our designs onto the alternative movie poster website.

The requirements of the brief are too limit to 2 colours plus paper stock.
Be a minimum of A4 scale.
Think both literary and out of the box in terms of the ideas and responses working with type. image and a combination of the both.

To inform my research I will look into iconic movie posters past and current from www.alternativemovieposters.com as well as looking at famous designers within the sector.

Richard Amsel
Bill Gold
All City Media
Olly Moss
Heinz Schulz-Neudamm
Reynold Brown
Saul Bass
Drew Stuzan

My movie is the film Mercury Rising. My initial plan at this stage is to:

Research into visual research to inspire my design ideas.

Research conceptual ideas inspired by watching the film.

Create around 30 rough ideas inspired by mind mapping, word association and conceptual research inspired by watching the film.

I will then develop on from here choosing around 5 designs to perfect and finalise taking into account interim crit feedback on the 17th of March.
